Millions More Spent On Heating

The cold front was a terrible time for many people in the UK this month and last and caused problems for ill people and elderly as well as people that just hate the cold weather! However we battled through it as a country and although I think we could have handled it a bit better bit we did it. On whole as a country we have spent over £1.2 billion over a very short period of time, two weeks in fact, much more than a normal winter.

At Work

The timing of all of this was not great because many offices were already cold thanks to the Christmas break and no one being in them. The heating was wacked up in the offices because it was so cold within them. Also many shops had no choice but to crank the heating up to the highest it could be to make sure they were not receiving complaints from their customers. On top of this many stores were getting in things like convector heater and a fan heater to keep the staff warm.

At Home

So many people were already freezing and once the cold front came in they has just reached the end of it and had enough so they decided to just turn up the heating. Part of the reason if not the entire reason for all of this is because ofthe snow, people were in their homes instead of at work or school.

Problems

Well there aren’t really any immediate problems for the bigger people involved like the government as all they need to do is get a bit more gas in but for the general population the heating bills will be pretty steep this month so make sure you save a bit of extra money for this. Of course you could just get portable heaters for occasions such as this.

Go Green Easily: Second-hand Is NOT a Dirty Word

Go Green Easily:  Second-hand Is NOT a Dirty Word

Go green easily by using second-hand and consignment stores.  The current economic downturns most of us are feeling has taken some of the stigma off buying preowned items.  Yard sales are hot shopping spots, on line classified ad sites are cropping up in droves and community swaps are growing in popularity.  Second-hand is NOT a dirty word.  People of all classes are realizing that there are great finds on the racks and shelves of consignment stores and thrift stores.  The old adage of “One man’s  trash is another man’s treasure.” has taken on new meaning and new value.

Utilizing stores that clean, refurbish, rewire or simply sell items as-is eliminates the need to ship merchandise from around the country.  There’s no added cost to the price tag for fuel fees, warehouse handling fees, trucking companies fees nor the big charge for buying a name brand article at full price.  Donations are tax deductible with receipts from the organization stating the estimated value of the items; you save when you give as well as receive.  Many charity organizations use their resale stores for training.  The developmentally disabled, recovering addicts, the homeless and others in need of marketable skills learn how to rewire appliances or do reupholstery work or succeed in retail so they can support themselves.

Go green and get greenbacks by putting consignment stores to good use.  Last year’s fashion staples, brand new stock from retired businesses or an extra toaster oven from a newlywed’s gift collection are found treasures.  As a rule, only clean, like-new products are acceptable for consideration at these stores.  Finding original price tags on packaging is very common.  Consignment stores will either pay you a flat rate for your items or take a small fee on what they sold for.  Many will even give an in-store credit or let you trade some of your things for same-priced merchandise.  Building a good relationship with the owner or manager can garner you some nice perks, like getting a first look at new arrivals before they go out onto the sales floor.

Going green and second-hand buying go hand-in-hand so remember, second-hand is NOT a dirty word.  These stores serve their communities by employing from within the area, giving new life to gently-used or even never-used things and keeping their corner of the local economy going.  Thrift stores are usually a training and financial source for charities while consignment stores put cash in your pocket but both do the same service; keeping usable items out of the dumps.

Some of Africas Deadliest Animals

africa is a whole new existence that a lot of people do not get the chance to genuinely see. But as well as some of the great attractions in Africa, there are also some deadly animals and creatures in and around the continent. So let us take a look at some of the dealiest animals around.

Lions

There are lions throughout the whole continent of Africa, but the fiercest place that you could in all likelihood go has to be Tsavo in Kenya. This is where a lot of people lost their lives by Lion attacks. Which is in reality rather strange as Lions do not hunt for humans, but a few of them, particularly the male ones tend to attack a vast amount of people.

Crocodiles

The crocodiles in Africa actually have quite powerful jaws. Attacks by crocodiles in the continent are said to be increasing. Crocodiles kill their prey and kill humans within seconds by dragging them under the water.

Elephant

Although you may not think elephants can be deadly or harmful, they are probably one of the most harmful animals. It is said that when an Elephant is on Musth, they become very unsafe to human beings and have to be avoided at all times. Their weight and size will crush any living thing, including the Lions.

Mosquito

These belittled little insects may seem to be harmless. But they have in reality caused the most deaths in Africa and continue to do so. The reason for the Mosquitos deadly streak is because they spread the fatal virus Malaria. Malaria is responsible for killing virtually three thousand children every single day. In some of the countries it kills more people than AIDs and cholera does. If travelling to countries such as Africa, you should make sure that you get the needed vaccinations in place.

Fabulous Safari Holidays superb South africa Holidays and Lamu Holidays I can guarantee you will be truly delighted and come back a happy person.
